Search Queries
A name or place entered into a search tool is transmitted directly to the independent provider operating that feature. The provider processes the request and supplies its response. Sutter County Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
Email and contact submissions may be kept long enough to review and answer them. They remain within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Loading a page can cause the server to receive ordinary technical and usage details:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help measure traffic, popular pages, and where visits end. Analytics providers combine that activity into performance reports. Browser controls can reject cookies, although disabling them may change how some features work.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Sutter County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It describes access routes through the Sutter County Sheriff, Sutter Superior Court, the California Department of Justice, Bureau of Criminal Information and Analysis, and the California Megan's Law Website. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal-history files.
Third-Party Search Partners
Independent companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted to one of those tools is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each partner controls its own retention, processing, and disclosure practices. Review those terms before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff resources, court portals, California agencies, legal-aid organizations, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Its terms should be read before personal details are submitted.
Advertising providers may use their own technology to measure activity across websites and select ads. That processing occurs within their systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Search providers selected to process a submitted query
- Analytics vendors measuring site traffic and performance
- Advertising networks serving content on the pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards protect collected information. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, however, so unauthorized access or loss cannot be ruled out completely.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. A verified report that a minor supplied such data will be addressed by deleting it as appropriate.
Your Data Rights
The California Consumer Privacy Act, Civil Code section 1798.100 et seq., may grant eligible California residents rights concerning covered personal information, subject to the law's scope and exceptions. Those rights can include the ability to:
